My last work of the show and also one of the biggest challenges.
I tried to think about how and where I come from not only physically but mentally and where I connect on a spiritual/cultural ground. Who and what influences me, my thoughts and how is that represented in art. What I’m made of and where my ancestors came from.
When I piece together what I know of family, I imagine all their journeys had hardship. Many of them colonised by war. I thought about religious quotes and if they gave comfort and encouragement. So here is one "You shall love your neighbour as yourself."
Freedom, equality and dignity are bestowed on all by virtue of being human, made in the image of God.
