Pottery Lottery

Brickell Brac
June 2023
True Brickell Brac is made in situ: the physical residue of creation, the dust of its makers, and the joyful mess left behind when boundaries fall away. It is a shared experience, a coming together where expectations dissolve and freedom is found in the mystery of not knowing what will emerge.

Pottery Lottery is a celebration of spontaneous creation and collective chaos brought to life by Brickell Brac, an evolving collective of artists who embrace the unpredictable, the playful, and the profound in ceramics.

About the Exhibition

Pottery Lottery

True Brickell Brac is made in situ: the physical residue of creation, the dust of its makers, and the joyful mess left behind when boundaries fall away. It is a shared experience, a coming together where expectations dissolve and freedom is found in the mystery of not knowing what will emerge.

Created with both extreme seriousness and equally extreme silliness, Brickell Brac’s work challenges conventional ideas of art by inviting experimentation, collaboration, and surprise. Each piece is a unique moment — a lottery of pottery — that reflects the energy and spirit of a diverse group of creatives working across New Zealand.

Join us to witness this lively encounter of craft and chance, featuring the work and collective spirit of Karl Fritsch, Laurie Steer, Paul Maseyk, Kalou Koefoed, Steve Bird, Turumeke Harrington, Janeen Page, Riccardo Scott, Sophia Smolenski, Callum Trudgeon, and more.
