TALES FROM THE MĀORILAND: NOT SO EPIC NOW!
A second exhibition of paintings by Bruce Jackson
Catalogue coming soon
A year ago this month, Kingsroy had the honour and privilege to bring you a collection of paintings by Bruce Jackson – the first he'd ever decided to show publicly. They were works significant to our shared history and culture and a showcase of Jackson's extraordinary talent. Kingsroy presented 'The Scouting Party' collection, knowing the works formed only part of an extended narrative. We are now delighted to bring you a further exhibition in Jackson's anthology – Not so epic now!
The 'Tales from the Māoriland' anthology began in 2007 when Bruce returned to Taranaki and began to paint, keeping his painted narrative underwraps and very much to himself and family until last year's show. Now, we get to share in another chapter of the story, Series 2, with nine more works that are again provocative, engaging, and promising to challenge and excite. Our previous showing of Jackson's paintings was so well supported and we anticipate this prequel will be no different.
Once again, I warmly encourage you to explore both this catalogue and the gallery, where you can discover more about the artist and their journey, culminating in these stunningly crafted paintings after years of dedication.
