Kate Fitzharris

Kate Fitzharris creates ceramic figures that sit between the familiar and the strange, drawing on ideas of childhood, memory, domesticity and our relationships with the natural world.

Working with hand formed clay alongside found textiles and materials, Fitzharris creates distinctive figures that feel both nostalgic and quietly uncanny. Her works recall cherished toys and domestic objects, while their unusual forms and personalities invite us to look again.

There is a strong sense of tenderness and tactility within her practice. Each figure seems to carry its own presence, somewhere between object, companion and creature, encouraging us to consider the stories, memories and emotions we attach to the things around us.
