"A Calm Prelude offers a captivating exploration of the New Zealand landscape, blending memories and imagination into a nostalgic tableau. As with all of my landscapes, this fictional scene evolved organically on the canvas, revealing the forms of valleys, rivers, and foregrounds along the way. It evokes a sense of marvel and wonder, reflecting the feelings I often experience while traveling the country. It also conveys the tranquility and serenity that the natural world brings me, while never knowing what I’ll find around the next corner."
